To help people embrace their identity in Christ.
To make a difference in this community by pursuing God, communing with believers, and influencing nonbelievers.
Press is a name that impels action. We are particularly compelled by Philippians 3:14 where Paul states, “I PRESS on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
As a community, we intend to be an active movement of the Gospel.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is Omnibenevolent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent thus having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.
(Exodus 3:14, Numbers 23:19, Leviticus 11:44-45, 19:2, Psalm 11:4-6, Psalm 18:30, Malachi 3:6, John 3:16, 4:24, 5:26, 14:1, Acts 17:28, Romans 3:3-4)
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
(Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Proverbs 30:5, Romans 16:25-26)
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe in his sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
(Isaiah 7:14, 53, Matthew 1:18-23, 3:17, 8:29, 14:33, 16:16, 28:5-6, Luke 1:34-35, 22:70, 24:46-47, John 1:1-3, 14, 10:30, 11:25-27, 17:1-5, Acts 1:9, 2:22-24, 7:55-56, Romans 1:3-4, 3:23-26, 8, 10:4, 1 Corinthians 8:6, 2 Corinthians 5:19-21, Galatians 4:4-5, Philippians 2:5-11, Colossians 1:15, 2:9, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, 3:16, Hebrews 1:1-3, Hebrews 4:14-15, 12:2, 13:8, 1 John 4:14-15)
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation is a gift from God and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. By Grace through faith in Christ, the believer becomes a new creation and thus engages a transformation process by the power of the Holy Spirit from loving sin, to loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind, and loving all people as we love ourselves.
(Isaiah 1:18, 53:5-6, 55:7, Matthew 1:21, 22:37-38, 27:22-28:6, 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, 2:21, 4:12, 16:30-31, 17:30-31, Romans 1:16-18, 3:23-25, 5:8-10, 6, 8, 10:9-10, 13, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Galatians 2:20, 3:13, Ephesians 2:8-22, Philippians 2:12-13, Hebrews 9:24-28, 1 John 1:6-2:11, Revelation 3:20)
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide that comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
(Psalms 51:11, 139:7, John 14:26, John 16:7-15, Romans 8:14-17, Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
(Matthew 28:19, John 1:1-4, I John 5:7)
We believe that humanity was created to have fellowship with God, but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, human beings cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Godly love.
(Genesis 1:26-30, 2:7, 18-19, 3, Psalms 8:3-6, 32:1-5, 51:5, Isaiah 6:5, Jeremiah 17:5, Acts 17:26-31, Romans 1:19-32, 3:10-18, 23, 5:6, 12-21, 6:6, 7:14-25, 1 Corinthians 1:21-31, 15:19, 21-22, Ephesians 2, Colossians 1:21, 3:9-11)
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. This is to be enacted through love for God and others with a spirit of generosity. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, believers are encouraged to step into maturity and be conformed to the image of Christ.
(Matthew 22:37-39, Luke 9:23, John 13:35, 1 Corinthians 13:2, II Corinthians 9:6-8, Ephesians 4:11-16, Philippians 2:14-16, Colossians 3:17-23, I Thessalonians 5:17-18)
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him, and by making Him known to the lost world. Jesus mandated the two ordinances of baptism and communion, which visibly and tangibly express the Good News. Though they are not the means of salvation but when celebrated by the believers in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish.
(Matthew 16:16-18, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 22:19-20, Acts 2:38-41, Ephesians 2:19-22, Ephesians 5:25-27)
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous and suffering separation from God for the wicked.
(Matthew 25:31-46, John 3:36, John 5:28-29, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 20:1-15, II Corinthians 5:10)
